Bates College is located in the south central part of the State of Maine in a city called Lewiston. Lewiston, in Androscoggin County, is the second-largest city in the U.S. state of Maine and is just 136 miles north of Boston.

It is expected that attendees will arrive/check-in on Sunday between 2:00 pm & 6:00 p.m. Anyone arriving after the GRC office closes at 9:00 pm on Sunday must make alternative housing arrangements.

Science Sessions are held in the air-conditioned Olin Arts Center Concert Hall.

Poster Sessions and Socials are held on the main level in the Perry Atrium of Pettengill Hall.

GRC participants are housed in suite style dorms with four rooms each sharing, a common living area. Shared bathrooms are centrally located between several suites.

All Meals will be served in the New Commons which is not air-conditioned. Vegetarian entrees are available at all meals and kosher meals are available only if the request is made in advance of the meeting.

All dorm rooms have cable access and are wired and networked with a high-speed Ethernet connection. Please bring your own Ethernet cable.

The site is fully handicapped accessible.

Attendees have access to the various athletic facilities available on campus: Merrill Gymnasium houses a 200-meter, six-lane Ruba-Turf track; an eight-lane, 25-meter-long swimming pool with one- and three-meter diving boards; four tennis courts; and squash and racquetball courts and a cardiovascular fitness center. The Davis Fitness Center features a full Nautilus circuit, BodyMaster machines, and a full array of free weights.

Animals are not permitted on site.

All GRC facilities are smoke free.
