Bylaw IV:
Establishment and Scheduling of Conferences
SECTION 1. ESTABLISHMENT OF CONFERENCES AND RELATED MEETINGS
The Board of Trustees shall establish new conferences with the advice of the Selection and Scheduling Committee. The Council may provide advice to the Board of Trustees and Selection and Scheduling Committee with regard to specific topics for new conferences. The Board of Trustees may authorize the Director to conduct related meetings as provided for in the Constitution and in connection therewith, may implement such procedures and establish such criteria as the Board of Trustees deems necessary or appropriate to insure that such related meetings serve the goals and purposes of the CONFERENCES and do not interfere with or adversely affect the CONFERENCES' primary function of establishing and conducting conferences.
SECTION 2. SCHEDULING OF CONFERENCE MEETINGS AND RELATED MEETINGS
The Board of Trustees shall determine the conferences and related meetings to be held during each session, and the Director shall schedule such meetings.
SECTION 3. SELECTION AND SCHEDULING COMMITTEE
A Selection and Scheduling Committee, composed as hereinafter provided, shall study, review and make recommendations to the Board of Trustees on the selection and scheduling of conferences each year. Nine members of the Committee shall be elected by the Council for terms of six years each upon nomination by the Board of Trustees, three members to be elected every other year. To ensure continuing representation of the various major disciplines of the scientific community, in submitting such nominees for election, the Board may group or pair the nominees and cause the Council to elect a specified number of members from each group or pair. In addition, all members of the Board of Trustees shall be ex officio members of the Selection and Scheduling Committee. Vacancies on the Committee shall be filled by the Board of Trustees for the remainder of the unexpired term. The organization and operation of this Committee shall be further governed by guidelines adopted by it from time to time.
