GRC Special Funding Programs

The Special Funding Programs listed below have limited budgets and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Carl Storm Underrepresented Minority (CSUM) Fellowship
The Gordon Research Conferences Board of Trustees has established the Carl Storm Fellowship programs to honor Director Emeritus Carl Storm's many years of service to GRC and to support his commitment to increasing the diversity of young scientists at our Conferences.
Eligible candidates must be: a graduate student, post doc, faculty, or research scientist; African American, Hispanic American or Native American; a U.S. citizen or permanent resident; working at a U.S. institution; a first-time attendee of a Gordon Research Conference. The amount of the fellowship award is $600. Candidates should apply either via the GRC web site (they may apply for fellowship before selecting a conference to attend), or by following the link to fellowship information and application that is sent upon receipt of their conference application.
Carl Storm International Diversity (CSID) Fellowship
The Gordon Research Conferences Board of Trustees has established the Carl Storm Fellowship programs to honor Director Emeritus Carl Storm's many years of service to GRC and to support his commitment to increasing the diversity of young scientists at our Conferences.
Nominees for the CSID Fellowship program must be graduate students or post docs who are citizens of and currently reside/work in one of the countries of the developing world. For this Fellowship program, the developing world is defined as any country in Africa, India, China, Central America or South America. An eligible nominee may hold citizenship from one country and reside/work in a different country; however, both countries must be a part of the developing world as defined above.
The amount of the CSID Fellowship award is $1250. CSID Fellowships are limited to one award per Conference. Previous recipients of the CSID Fellowship are not eligible.

Eastern European / Former Soviet Union Fund (EEF/FSU)
Support from the EEF/FSU Fund ($600) is available for one (1) Eastern European or Former Soviet Union research scientist per conference. To qualify, the candidate must be currently working in an Eastern European or FSU country. This support is limited and is available on a first-come, first served basis. Graduate students and previous recipients of funding through the EEF/FSU program are not eligible. The Conference Chair must submit a request for support from the EEF/FSU Fund for a qualified candidate. Requests from a conference attendee will not be accepted. Predominantly Undergraduate Institution Fund (PUI)
Support from the PUI Fund ($600 each award) is available for two (2) research-active scientists from a PUI per conference. A PUI is defined as one where undergraduate enrollment exceeds graduate enrollment and where no more than an average of 10 doctorate degrees are awarded per year (NSF definition). This support is limited and is available on a first-come, first served basis. Graduate students and previous recipients of funding through this program are not eligible. The Conference Chair must submit a request for support from the PUI Fund for a qualified candidate. Requests from a conference attendee will not be accepted. Alexander M. Cruickshank Lecture Award (AMC)
Three to four AMC awards are given out each year (more information here). Recipients of this award have their conference fee and travel expenses supported. Candidates are selected based on the following criteria: Current research; Chair's assessment of the candidate; Subject of lecture (see form for more details). The Conference Chair must nominate a candidate for this award. Nomination forms should be sent via email to Judi Farley.
